These are the nine robotic companies Google acquired and what they intend on doing with them.

How true is it that Google has acquired up to nine robotics companies?

From the sources I have here, it seems Google has acquired nine robotics specialized in different essential areas required of a versatile robot.

Schaft: The highest scoring robotic company at the 2013 DARPA’s robotic challenge has been acquired by Google and confirmed from DARPA website (source)
Schaft, the Japanese robotics company focuses on humanoid robots and They claim to use sophisticated biped walking algorithm which enables their robots to even walk on uneven grounds without falling, even If you kick them,They won’t fall.(let that robot taste the force of my kick first 😝). Wow it seems Google is interested in making stable robots and not staggering metals 😉

Meka robotics: based in San Francisco and focused also in humanoid robots,They are specialized in making dexterous robot arms, human safe robots, force controlled compliant actuation and mechatronic engineering, basically They focus on humanoid robot with good manipulation and control of the hand,So you see Google is interested in making handy robots 😀

Industrial perception . This robotics company based in California focuses more on automation, They develop high technology that enable robots to analyse their environment with 3D vision, equipped with sensors. It’s more than what I can describe here. But basically They focus on robots senses, being able to analyse objects in the environment, to calculate the amount of pressure required to grip an object and the exact orientation in space without colliding with other objects, hmmmm,Google really means this robot business and Google doesn’t want a grumpy robot (source)

Boston dynamics:  This company based in Waltham focuses on building complex robots that are capable of doing more than what is expected at this level of advancement, at least according to them (source),They have a team of reliable scientists and engineer working together to push the limits of technology. They have succeeded in making some robots capable of doing impressive things like running on rough terrains, climbing vertical surfaces, altering their shapes to pass through tight spaces. Wow. 😱That’s impressive. Google really want to amaze us with an impressive robots capable of achieving feats through this company.

Redwood robotics: Based in sans Francisco, is a joint venture between Meka, willow garage,SRI international, They focus on making inexpensive robot arms, that are simple to program, inexpensive and safe to operate among humans (source)

Bot & Dolly: This company focus on robotics, automation, motion control, film making and design, making robots that are impressive in precise and expressive control, used in 6-axis industrial robots(source). I have a feeling Google wants to venture into film making inin the future.

Holomni: The omnidirectional robot wheel maker based in California has been acquired by Google, So it seems They want a robot whose movements are not limited.
Deep sight:  They also acquired an artificial intelligence company based in London, focusing on machine learning and system neuroscience,I can only guess Google would transform android OS to an AI OS in future to be installed on their stable, handy, precise, versatile, and mobile humanoid robot in the near future.(source)

I believe google would still acquire more robotics company, probably the company that focus on human like skin production,So the robot can have the feeling of a real human, (my speculation).

Thanks for reading,I hope to see you again.
